The old wall on this property was on its way out. Bowing, cracking, clearly not long for the world, and holding back a few feet of grade right along the property line, which meant it had to go before something gave. We pulled the whole thing out, dug back to undisturbed ground, laid a proper compacted base, and built a new segmental block wall in its place with drainage behind it. Walls don't fail for mysterious reasons. They fail for the same three or four reasons every time, bad base, no drainage, wrong materials. We fixed all of them.
