This one was a favourite. The homeowners had a steep hillside out back that was basically unusable — raw dirt, too sloped for kids to play on, nothing happening. They wanted a real backyard. We started from scratch: regraded the whole slope, built a natural boulder retaining wall to terrace it out, and brought it up to finish grade. Then came the good stuff — sod across the whole yard and an arborvitae hedge along the back fence for privacy. The kids can actually use the yard now, which was the whole point.
